             1)It is a prerequisite for any organization intending to conduct import and export operations from India.
             2) If a service or technology provider is receiving benefits under the Foreign Trade Policy, they must register their IE code.

 

  • No, registering an import export code is not required for the following activities:

    1)if products are being imported or exported for personal use.
    2)whether the import or export is handled by a designated nonprofit organization, a government ministry, or department.

    3)any additional category that the DGFT defines or mentions.

  • An application for an IE Code may be made by any person engaged in the import and export of products or services for commercial purposes. They can apply online for the IE code and submit it with the necessary paperwork. If the individual doesn’t have a current account with the company, they can submit an application for an IE code by providing a canceled savings account check.
  • Until it is revoked or turned in, the Import Export Code is valid for a lifetime. It is a perpetual registration, thus once the applicant has the IE Code, there is no need to re-register.
  • No, separate applications do not need to be submitted for each location of business. This registration is PAN-based. As a result, the same registration will be accepted by all branches and enterprises owned by the same company.
  • A single PAN card may only be used to issue one IEC. In the event that several IECs are granted, they must be turned in to the regional office.
